The chatter in the packed movie theater dies down as the lights begin to darken. Every head turns to face forwards. The anticipation is evident on everyone’s faces as they stare at the dark screen. They’ve all realized that the previews are over and it is finally time for one of the most anticipated films of the year to begin: The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, Ana de Armas, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell, among others.
The audience seems to be in a perpetual hush as the films opening studio logos dramatically fade in and out on screen, Michael Giacchino’s score gently pumping through the theater’s speakers as it builds and builds. For a brief moment, there’s an excited murmur in the audience as the opening shot appears on screen: a forest, with a city skyline in the background. Then the theater is quiet again. White text fades in as the camera starts to pan down.
