Romeo

It was like any other day, bright, sunny, and cheerful. Sky was working at her nine to five job, which she felt pretty meh about. She worked at a convenience store making food, ringing up customers and making sure every customer had a “fantastic experience while they were there,” or at least that’s what corporate would say when they were there. *Insert dramatic eye roll* Sky was determined to get out of her little one horse town someday. She knew she was destined for more than her town had to offer. She had a few friends throughout high school, but there was one person she had her eye on in particular. So when Krissy came into the store, she thought nothing of it. “Psstt, SKY!” Sky turned around and saw her best friend Krissy standing there whispering to her. “You NEED to prepare yourself because guess who just pulled up outside?!” Sky looked at her best friend strangely and said, “Ugh Krissy if this is one of your stupid boyfriends again, I don’t have time! I have a billion things to do before I leave work today.” Krissy looked at Sky annoyed and said, “Hey! My boyfriends aren’t stupid! AND no, it isn’t someone for me.” Sky turned to look at her best friend again, this time with more haste than before. “Krissy, you don’t mean…” Krissy shook her head yes and Sky got pale. Krissy grabbed her and sat her down at a nearby table. Sky looked at Krissy and said, “Are you sure it’s him?” “I’m as sure as ever Sky!” Just at that moment, the door flew open and the worlds most handsome man walked in. Ok, so maybe the door slowly pushed open and he came in, but you get my point. Sky stood up and straightened her apron out and smiled. Romeo slowly walked into the store, as if in slow motion. Sky could’ve sworn that time itself had stopped. Romeo was a year older than her and she was so infatuated with him. Only problem was, he never seemed to notice her, like at all! They could be the only two people in the room and he wouldn’t know she was alive. Romeo walked over and grabbed a pop and a sandwich and proceeded to the checkout. Sky and Krissy stood at the table, staring at him. He was so gorgeously handsome and he didn’t even know it. Krissy nudged Sky and said, “Girl! You’re drooling!” Sky quickly sucked up her spit and wiped her mouth. Krissy giggled and both girls watched as Romeo walked for the door. Just before he got to the door, Sky sneezed and Romeo stopped and looked dead at her. Sky swore her heart stopped. She thought the world would explode. After what seemed like an eternity, Romeo smiled and said, “Salud,” and walked out the door. Sky couldn’t move. He had noticed her. He had really actually noticed her. Sky did a small tiny happy dance and Krissy laughed at her. Krissy knew that Sky had been crushing on Romeo for what felt like forever! Sky and Krissy exchanged looks. Krissy left and Sky smiled as she continued on with her wonderful day. She had no idea her life was about to get a whole lot more interesting.
