Dentist appointment

It started today when I rode my bike to the dentist as the Dutch girl I am, I was giggling. When did that change? I used to be afraid of the dentist and now I’m excited.

The moment I step into his office I know why, it’s him, my new dentist.
With deep dark eyes he stares at me while saying “sit”. Like the obedient girl I can be I do as told. I’m not sure if it’s dominance or a cultural difference the way he tells me to do things, I suspect both.

While he’s testing out different mouth pieces in my mouth and looking for a smaller one in the drawer I’m opening my mouth wide a couple times wondering if it’s too small. Suddenly the assistant laughs at me and tells me I don’t need to open my mouth constantly. I did not realize she was staring at me. The dentist looks at me and both start laughing. I try to explain my reasoning while my cheeks turn red and I’m feeling ashamed and flustered.
