It was a chilly winter morning as Annalise rolled over to silence her alarm. She didn’t want to get out of her warm bed. The weight of her down comforters surrounding her, offering her the sense of an embrace that her body craved for. How had she ended up here, alone? Sigh…. she shook the sadness aside and forced her aching body out of bed. Regretting the moment her feet hit the icy floor. Ugh.
She got in her car and made the journey to the Veil ski resort. It was here she had her very first experience with the slopes. It was here she fell in love with the feel of fresh powder as it made way to the slicing of her skis. She parked her car got out her bag of medical supplies and took a deep cleansing breath. Her seasonal contract as the resort nurse practitioner was coming to an end.
Annalise walked into the resort pasting her now superficial smile on her face as she passed coworkers and guests. She pushed the creaky door open let out a small sigh as she looked out the large wood paned window that overlooked the slopes. Her body longed to be out there in the fresh air. Soon enough, she would be.
