So I don’t know how to express this; not entirely that is. Every little girl is warned to be weary and alert when dealing with men, the risks of their advances, more so when they are alone and haven’t felt the touch of a woman, we are all aware of the horror stories. But sometimes it’s not a horror story or at least not initially…..

Fort Campbell Kentucky “101st Screaming Eagles” my unit had been partaking in a typical field operation in support of the 502 infantry, a common occurrence. Three weeks in the field, in support of the 502nd company evaluations. I was tasked with helping the S Shops; S1 S2 and S3.

Within my detachment there were approximately 14 soldiers myself being one the only three females. The majority of my leadership we’re all male, all but our S2 2nd Lieutenant, the other female was an S1 private, myself a specialist. We mainly just monitored radios and updated battle trackers.

The heat was in the upper 90 degrees with the humidity around 24%, we’d just finished jumping our TOC for the fourth time that field operation. We’d had no blouse tops on and between our sweat and the humidity our tan teeshirts clung on every inch of our bodies.
