It had been one year. One year since Dakota Kai made her presence truly felt in NXT with her promo that changed the landscape of the black and gold brand forever. Gone was the TV-PG rating, and ushered in its place came a hard TV-MA rating for WWE’s third brand. After she had stripped herself down barren in the middle of the ring, berating the company for telling her what to wear and how to act, ratings shot up for NXT immensely, so much so that the newly-formed All Elite Wrestling was forced to move nights as they could not come anywhere close to the millions of viewers that tuned in weekly to see the edgiest wrestling in North America.Dakota’s promo cut a tear in the entire show, forcing them to adapt to please this newfound audience, having the girls all now wrestling fully nude or in the sluttiest outfits imaginable, they were no longer bound to just calling each other “bitches” to sound edgy during their promos, now being encouraged to get as boisterous and wild as they could get, and while the men also saw changes, in that blood was featured heavily, stories came across more mature, and there was similarly no more language roadblock placed for them, NXT’s strong suit continued to be its women’s division. People tuned in to see the likes of Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley, Aliyah, Vanessa Borne, and Chelsea Green all wrestle each other totally naked, and the girls were still putting on bangers of matches. That is, most of them… Dakota unfortunately got injured during a match with Candice LeRae about a month after her turn of utter lust, and had been on the shelf since, but that was a little under a year ago, and now… now, Dakota Kai was making her first appearance backstage at an NXT show in months.
