Emma got the letter in the mail that she never thought she would. Emma honestly forgot she even applied for it. She was accepted into a very prestigious university in the US. It was part of a foreign exchange program for promoting cultural exchange at the university. She were ecstatic about the oppirtuunity, knowing that all she was leaving behind was a boring retail job by the beach. Emma reads further down to see that tution is covered by the program, but room and board was not. Her heart sinks a little, knowing her savings will almost cover a one way ticket to California where the University is. Emma looks at the included housing options. Southern California is not cheap…She sinks into the couch, tears swelling in her eyes as she sees the monthly rent is more than she could possibly afford. Emma writes off the opportunity, knowing that she cannot make this happen, even though it would change her life forever. She almost throws the letter out till she sees a black buisness card stuffed in the envelop, it has a name and email address on it, with one sentance printed on the back
“If you need creative housing solutions contact me.”
Her heart flutters, as she scurriers to her laptop, opening her email to contact the man on the card. She says she is interested in the housing options, saying she is willing to do anything to make this oppotunity a reality. Emma shuts her laptop and nervously waits for a response, checking her email multiple times before realizing the time difference makes it unlikely she will get an email back. She tries to go about her day and trys to think about anything else, thoughts creeping into her head about what the creative solution could possibly be…
Halfway around the world Tom opens his eyes and rubs the sleep out of them, trying to focus on his blurry smart phone screen, seeing a message notification for his dedicated “houses” email account. He was suspicious if his little scheme would actually work, but he had a friend who had been the “special housing” director for years before finally retiring, saying he could not keep up anymore. Tom had pestered him about the legality of all of this. He knew it was immoral, but that was not what he was worried about. His friend sent Tom the pdf of the contract he would have a tenant sign, it was written by his lawyers, and reviewed by Toms. Besides some raised eyebrows and judgmental stares, everything was perfect.
Tom gets out of bed and heads to his home office in his lavish modern decorated beach house. He sits down, responding to Emma’s email with a short, but professional email.
“Thank you for your interest in the creative housing solution. I have attached the contract that should make all expectations clear. If you still want to proceed, sign the contract and email back to me for the next steps. Also if you are to agree, please include your clothing measurements as requested in the contract.”
Tom pauses before he sends it, the contract while in pofessional legal terms, is filthy. It states that by accepting the terms and conditions she is commitimg to being available for sexual services whenever she is in the home, and requires her to be home by a curfew, and sets the expectation that she would be entitled to no privacy, or abiltiy to reject sexusl advances or requests. The only rules in place are: no physical harm inflicted and any guests that she bring into the house is agreeing to the contract terms by entering the house. No male guests premitted.
Besides the rules and expectations it also stated that she will be examined by a dr of Tom’s choice before being accepted, and put on birth control. She will be given a copy of his clean medical report as well. Tom reads over the contract one more time, typing her name in the blanks. He close the attachment and hits send, adrenaline pulsing as he thinks about all of the possibilities that were ahead of him.
