Anyone else get shit for writing/reading erotica in other subs?

There’s been two occasions where I made a comment in a sub Reddit about therapy and a 12 step sub where people just started attacking me for it and saying my opinion is invalid because I write and consume erotica. It blew my mind. Erotica is such a safe healthy way to indulge in fantasies you wouldn’t be able to indulge in in real life. And as far as embarrassing stuff I’ve got way more embarrassing stuff than erotica on my Reddit I don’t know why that’s the thing that triggered them. I should bite the bullet and just make a separate account

  1. A lot of people are hostile towards erotica. It sucks. Sure it’s not for everyone but for those of us who enjoy it we should be able to without harassment or disrespect.

  3. There’s a kind of Redditor who doxes everyone else. Goes over your profile with a magnifying glass and a fine-tooth comb.

  4. I haven’t gotten any shit from anyone. Once, a Redditor was chatting with me and said, “Oh, I don’t read that stuff,” when I mentioned it as a genre.

I also got a **”WHO ARE YOU??”** from someone. They apparently had ideas about what sort of person posts in which sort of sub, and I didn’t fit the mold.

This one account is all I have here. It keeps it simple for me. I don’t have to remember what I said under which username. Also, if someone has a problem with what I post or where I post it, they are the one with a problem. Not me. :)

On a different note, I have noticed that there are websites that just rip posts straight out of sex-related subreddits – also out of horror subreddits – and post them on their sites. I post more judiciously because of that!

  5. There really are a lot of uptight, repressed and judgmental people out there. I tend to keep the NSFW side of me totally separate on Reddit for this reason. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this. Hope it doesn’t discourage you from writing more.

  6. Yeah it’s funny tbh, some of the same people who shy away from it are the ones who read my erotica in private and don’t say anything afterwards. I feel you though, it’s seen as a taboo however I find it as an art form and I love reading & writing about it :)

  7. I usually point out that it’s irrelevant to the conversation, and then ignore the idiots.
