The next few days went by slowly. Each day we rose at sunrise, rode until midday to eat and continued on horse until sundown. My continued escape attempt always failed and quickly grew into a sport for the bored soldiers and commander.
“Rise and shine, little lady.” Samuels’s voice whispered in my ear as he untucked us from his bedroll. The first night they tied me to a tree, but managed to cut the rope using a sharp rock. As I tried quietly to sneak out of camp, I stepped on a branch, making a slightly audible cracking sound. Within seconds the guard on duty had tackled me, using his body to pin me to the ground as the other guard fetched the commander. Since then, I had been sleeping in his bedroll with his arm firmly around my waist.
“We should be arriving this afternoon.” He continued, glaring at my body and filthy nightgown. “But that will not do.”
At that moment one of his officers arrived with a leather satchel. With the satchel in hand, he guided me towards the woods. After a few minutes of walking in silence, I started to hear the sound of running water. We arrived in a small clearing, the morning sun beaming between the trees. In front of me was a beautiful blue river culminating in a modest pool before continuing its journey through the woods.
Samuel pulled out a pair of blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a knitted cardigan for me along with a pair of briefs that made me blush as he handed them to me.
“Now strip and clean yourself.” He said bluntly.
“Then turn around or preferably, leave.” I responded with a straight face.
Without responding, he approached me, dagger in hand. He placed my new clothing on the ground and brought the knife up to my chest, allowing it to trail along the curves of my hips. With a swift motion, the blade slit trough my gown like butter. The soft silk glided gently against my skin, baring my nimble breast. His fingers stroked the shape, trailing along until they reached my hard nipples. His fingers danced slow circles around them, making my body shiver. His dagger moved up to the straps of the, slicing them as easily as the first time. The dress fell to the ground, revealing my naked body before him. The dagger found its way back into its sheath, allowing both his hands on my body.
I jerked away, hastily clawing the ruined dress from the ground to cover myself. His hand quickly tore the dress from my hands and drew me closer to him.
He leaned in close and whispered “Even more beautiful than I imagined.”
His words sent shivers down my spine, something that made him only pull me closer in something resembling a hug. It was oddly comforting. For several moments, we stood like that until he exclaimed that it was time for the bath. The water was icy cold and felt like needles against my skin. After several days of being tied up, my wrists were sore and red. They welcomed the cool water, removing dirt from the chapped skin.
I hastily submerged, allowing the water to give me a few second of peace. As my head broke the surface, I could see Samuel eyeing me intently before throwing me a bar of soap. I swiftly cleaned myself, feeling nauseated by his glaring. All I wanted was to put on clothes and get out of his gaze. As I arose from the water, goosebumps covering my body, he held out a large cloth. I tried to grab it, but he yanked it away with a smirk.
“Tsk, tsk. A princess does not dry herself, does she?” He purred.
“Just give me the fucking towel, Sammy.” I scoffed. I knew he hated that nickname and I only used it when I was angry. Like the other times, I received a firm slap to the face. Enough to hurt, but not enough to leave a mark. I groaned as I lifted my hand, aiming a fist towards his jaw. Instead of reaching its target, it landed in his palm, leaving me frozen. Another slap struck my face, this time harder. I could feel a small cut along my cheekbone and a single drop running down my face.
“You really should learn to behave, little lady. It will only get worse.” He laughed.
I remained still, but for a small gesture removing the blood from my face. When he seemed satisfied that I would stay still for at least a short while, he started wiping me down with the towel. He started with my hair, slowly moving downward. He bent down, rubbing the cloth from my legs and along my thighs. I could feel my heart speeding up and my cheeks getting flustered. His hands stopped less than an inch before my lips, leaving them there for a small moment. He carelessly wrapped my shivering body in the damp cloth, holding it with one hand and sliding the other along my thigh. My breath grew heavier with each stroke drew nearer to my lips. His fingers slipped through my wetness, stroking along my lips teasingly. I instinctively moved my arm around his neck to balance myself. All thoughts of defiance remove from my mind, only giving in to this new carnal feeling. I let out a small moan as my hand clenched around the collar of his shirt.
He removed his hand, licking his finger. “Maybe pain isn’t the way to gain your obedience. ” He taunted. I had no response as the realization and shame of what had just happened poured over me. I hastily threw on the modest garments he had provided me and walked towards the camp.
“Aren’t you forgetting something, doll?” He called, but I refused to stop. All I needed was to get away from him, but he would not let me. He quickly caught up to me, grabbing my arm by force and spinning me around. With a swift motion, my hands were again tied, the rope biting into my sore wrists. He lifted my chin up, our eyes meeting as he placed a gentle kiss on my forehead.

The day was drawing to an end, the sun resting on a nearby hilltop as a small town came into view. Most of the ride, he had rested his hands on my thighs, letting them slide up and down with the motion of the horse. It had been maddening. I hated my body for enjoying his touch and my mind for constantly replaying the scene from the river.
Deciding to shift my focus, I inspected the city from afar. There appeared to be several stone towers connected by a wall covered in plants. A heavy wooden gate stood at its center.
“Welcome to Jagos, little lady. A dear friend of mine will tend to you here while I return to the capital. When you meet him, you’ll be courteous and only speak when spoken to.”
I let out a small hmpf in agreement. My eyes trailed the city, studying the walls as we approached the heavy gate. They looked climbable even with my non-existent training. Growing up I had learned to ride a horse, but the rest had been focused on diplomacy and matters of the court. The gates screeched as they opened, revealing plenty of stone buildings inside. Most of them had elaborate gardens with flowers in a wide variety of shape and color. Warm lights illuminated the ornate streets, revealing wavy patterns set in different shades of stone.
We continued through most of the city until we reached a sizeable wooden house. Several apple trees grew in the front yard. Samuel dismissed his men, sending them to the nearest tavern as he slid off his horse. He lifted me off with ease and placed me gently on the ground in front of him.
“Behave from now on. No more running or cussing.” He said authoritatively.
A young woman opened the door for us.
“Sephley, a pleasure to see you again.” He chirped.
“Thank you, sir. Please come in. The Master is expecting you in his study”. Her voice sweet and honeyed.
The hallway was grand and covered in dark, luxurious wood. An ornate, green carpet covered the floor brushing softly against the tired soles of my feet. Sephley lead us down a hallway covered in paintings of beautiful landscapes and through a door. We entered a large library, two stories high and the walls covered in books except for a lavish fireplace. Seated in an armchair near the fireplace was the most beautiful man I had ever seen in my life. Skin like marble and dark brown hair slicked back. He wore only black jeans and a simple t-shirt, hugging his every muscle. I cowered behind Samuel as his ice blue eyes studied me.
“Welcome back, Sam. I’m so happy to see you made it back in one piece. I hope she wasn’t too much trouble.“ His dark voice rang like a smooth song through the room.
“Not too bad, Kade. She’s actually fun when she isn’t cussing me out.” He laughed.
Kade smiled, revealing two fangs. Upon realizing he was a vampire, I quickly spun around and started to make my way to the door. During my childhood, I had met a few creatures that lived in my father’s realm, but no vampires had lived there. I had only learned about them through stories and books. Vampires feed on the blood of other creatures, but their favorite was human. They were told to be vile and cruel creatures with no regard for life.
Before I could even reach the door, Kade was in front of me giving me a stern look. Instinctively I backed up, crashing into Samuel. He leaned in and whispered in my ear “Won’t you go greet your new owner?”
“H-hi” I stuttered, too frozen in fear to move.
Kade laughed as he bowed. “I’m Kade. Owner of this house and assorted merchant. Now, will you tell me your name?”
“Roe” I whispered, keeping my eyes at the floor.
“Well, now that you’re acquainted, I’ll raid your kitchen and wine cellar. Come find me when you’re done.” Samuel said while giving Kade a friendly stroke on the shoulder before exiting the room.
Kade motioned me towards one of the armchairs. “Please, have a seat.”
After several days on horseback, the chair was like sinking into a cloud of pure happiness. I stretched my feet out, warming them against the fire. Kade took a seat opposite me and offered me some tea. I nodded, welcoming any familiarity.
“Now, let’s get the formalities out of the way. Sam called me after he found out who you are. I agreed to take you as long as you follow my rules. Number one, you will not talk to anyone outside this household or leave this house without permission. Number two, you will do as I say when I say it. No talking back. Number three, you are mine. My property to do with as I please, when I please. No one knows who you are here except for me, Sam and Sephley. As long as you follow my rules, you’ll be safe.” He took a brake to take a zip from his tea before pulling a small necklace from his pocket. A leather black leather choker with a round emblem of a cracked hourglass on it.
He rose from his chair and moved behind mine. I flinched as his cold fingers touched my neck.
“Calm down, I’m only going to put this on.” His voice serene.
He placed the leather against my neck and I lifted my hair, letting him attach it. It fit perfectly, not as tight to choke me, but enough to hold up on its own. He moved gracefully back to his chair, sipping his tea and admiring the new addition to my outfit.
“You will wear that at all time. It is a symbol showing that you are mine, denying anyone else from touching you. In addition it hides your tattoo.”
I just sat there, trying to process all this. In less than a week, I had gone from a princess and heir to a kingdom, to owned by a dark elf and now a vampire. Thoughts of escape occupied my mind, but I decided that for now I was safest here. A human wandering alone would quickly be caught and either killed or sold as a slave. Should anyone find out who I was, they would surely turn me over to the king and given his rumored cruelty, would be a fate worse than death.
I snapped out of my train of thought at the sound of his voice. “Give me your arm.” I obliged, too tired to put up a fight. As I realized what was happening, I used all my strength to try to pull back my arm, but to no avail as his teeth sunk into my wrist. I let out a small wail at the initial pain, but it disappeared, turning into pure bliss. Before I had a chance to reach, he was back in his chair sipping tea. I stroked the two small marks closing up faster than any normal wound. He must have noticed my bewilderment.
“My saliva contains healing agents.” He said with a smile before continuing. “The reason I bit is because with your blood in me I can sense you, your feelings and your location. Should you get into any trouble, I can easily find you. Should you escape, I could track you down in an instant. For instance, now you are confused, angry and sad, which is all understandable. I think we’ve talked enough. I’ll have Sephley show you to your room.”
My room was small with dark walls and a quaint fireplace. A canopy bed stood opposite the fireplace and a dresser with something I assumed to be an antique mirror hanging above it. In the corner was a small armchair. Sephley had informed me on our way to my room that the dresser was filled with clothes in my size. I rummaged through it until I found a nightgown. That night I allowed myself to cry, letting all the horrible thoughts I had suppress come to light.
