To buy a succubus by Dustin Midnight chapter 1-2

Chapter 1

Lee West sat at his desk, bored out of his mind. He drummed his fingers on the counter as he scrolled through different websites on his computer, trying to find something to stave off his endless boredom. Sure, he should’ve been working, but sitting behind a desk for hours, rummaging through random manuscripts just brought him nothingness—the same story, with the same plots. Lee sighed as he stared out at the pile of manuscripts. He desperately wished for something to break the monotony of his lackluster situation.

Eventually, Lee somehow found himself on an auction site, scrolling down a page that read Occult Items— Small trinkets that were up for auction, though it seemed like what he was looking at could’ve been better describe as merely junk. Items claimed to be haunted, a creepy-looking doll, a supposed ghost of a witch possessing it, a pendant that contained a Nymph’s, so on and so forth. The various items seemed to go on endlessly as he explored the site before him. Most of it seemed like the usual thing, people trying to sell their junk and get as much profit: even if they had to do so by claiming they were cursed or haunted.

It was absolute garbage, but it was much more interesting than the pile of slosh on his desk written by writers who couldn’t write. Lee quickly refreshed the screen as he let out another sigh. He figured after this, he might head out to lunch and maybe grab a burger and probably get back to work and start making a dent on the pile on his desk. Hopefully, he could find something that would be worth showing off. Lee looked at the refreshed page and saw that a new Ad had popped up.

“What’s this?” Lee thought aloud as he looked at the new ad.

*Succubus for Sale.*

This caught Lee’s attention, as curiosity fell over him while he mumbled.

“A succubus? That’s new.” He proceeded to click on the link opening up the full advert, and it was clear that it was trying to catch a person’s attention.

*For Sale; a once in a lifetime opportunity, residing in this ring, is a Succubus. Never before has something like this ever been released into* *the public. Don’t think this is all smoke and mirrors, this is very much real, fold and not for the faint of heart. This ring once belonged to a man of the cloth. He was the head of our town’s church, being around for over fifty years. He died two months ago. When going through his stuff, I found a small box containing the ring. In his handwriting, he described how he had trapped the creature in the ring and kept it hidden away from the world.*

*So now, I’m allowing you to buy this ring for yourself and the chance to experience pleasure beyond your wildest dreams.*

*Buy it now for $1,000. Starting bid $10.00*

This caused Lee to raise his eyebrow as he looked at the page and found himself beyond curious as he looked over the picture of the ring.

It showed a fairly old ring, with a few carved images on it. From the angle of the photos, it looked like it had the Star of David on the outer edge scratched into it while on the inside, a cross was etched in.

Compared to the rings he’d previously seen on eBay that supposedly contained ancient spirits, this one was different; this one seemed older, with a need for a good polish. It stood out because of the roughness of it. They usually always seemed to look flashy and cheap. Lee had to cover his mouth as he felt an urge to laugh.

“Alright, this one looks like they’ve put in more effort, but still who would be stupid enough to go and fall for a stupid trick like that?” He moved his cursor over, getting ready to close the screen, and just go pick up lunch. His finger was about to click on the tab’s red X when he paused and stared at the ad again.

*Should I really bid on this? Would it even be worth it? I mean it’s my money and this thing could be a terrible scam…*

“Screw it. What’s the worst that could happen?”

He moved the cursor over, putting a single bid down for twenty bucks. Besides, what would be the harm in making a bet like that? If he lost, he kept his money, and if he won, he could always post it back on the site, claiming it had a troll connected to it.

“Sounds like a win to me,” he laughed as he finished processing the bid. When everything was completed, he turned around, shutting his laptop. He reached over and grabbed one of the random manuscripts to give it a read over during lunch. Getting up Lee took a couple of uneasy steps, a combination of an old injury and his leg falling asleep from all the sitting. Lee’s stomach growled as he passed some cubicles turning the corner Lee saw Beth. She was moving over her large piles of manuscripts, clearly smaller than his.

“Hey, Beth. I’m going to grab some lunch. Want something?” Beth gave a smirk as he looked over.

Beth was a pretty petite woman with a tied-up ponytail held up by a #2 pencil and wearing black-rimmed glasses. Beth’s eyes were glued to the paper, examining every sentence. Enamored by the prose. She flipped through the pages of a particular manuscript. Her interest remained on the book as she turned to the next page.

Lee saw one of the pagesthat read. *The Webs of Desires.*

“So, what’s it about?” Lee asked as he watched Beth for a second, who turned back towards him.

“Oh, just your average supernatural erotica, though this one has a twist. The love interest is a woman who’s half spider.”

“Sounds like the ‘writer’ must be a leg man,”

“That he is. They keep talking about her legs. Major boner for them but they’re such a cute couple, when she’s trying not to eat him.”

“Better love story than 50 Shades of Grey.”

“By a long shot, I mean, it’s got a slow moment, but the characters seem to like each other. Now, you said you were going out for lunch?” Beth looked over, bags under her eyes, as she cracked her neck. The pop was loud, causing Lee to wince. while her hair drooped. Slightly rubbed her right eye. While groaning.

“Yeah, want anything?”

“Coffee, with a lot of sugar. I need it!” She struck a pose, clenching her fists and making a faux crazed face at him. “I NEED a lot of sugar!” the husk in her voice was filled with determination as she looked towards Lee, who yawned himself and nodded.

“Sure thing, one cup of sugar with an ounce of coffee.”

She yawned out as loud as she could, likely to emphasize the need for the caffeinated drink, though not before giving him the finger for such a terrible joke.

Lee only found himself laughing while returning the same gesture. The two of them joked like that all the time; sure, they may not have a relationship outside of work, but the two of them were still buddies in some ways. Joking around and goofing when they weren’t busy, Mainly just talking or fucking around a bit. Beth and her particular knowledge of anime, and other Nerdy things. Bouncing off Lee’s love of Science fiction. It was something to do for entertainment when nothing was going on during these long boring days. Today in particular was going extra slow.

Lee walked out of the elevator, the auction far from his mind at this point as he made his way to the entrance leaving Hornstone Publishing *Hornstone Publishing* that was the name of the business, which was well known for it’s harlequin novels. Some days might have been dull and tedious, but it was an excellent job and paid well.

He jogged across the street. Traffic was light, and he didn’t want to waist any time while heading towards the little deli. It was one of those deals where he just didn’t have the time to wait at a crosswalk. He sure as hell wasn’t worried about getting hit by a car at this point. A hunger was roaring in his stomach as he went to order the usual a roast beef sandwich with a soda. Nothing to wild a bit plain for most people. For Lee though it would at least get him through the rest of the day. He was close to leaving when he remembered to go back quickly ordering Beth’s coffee. He needed to remember that. If not he was sure Beth would grumble at him for the rest of the day. Managing to pay for it Lee, would eventually give the deli manage Mr. Kinder a small way before leading the old man’s shop.

Making his way out of the deli, Lee made his way across the busy street, dodging the traffic in his wake. Walking back inside, Lee suddenly found himself walking right into someone. Someone he didn’t want to run into. His Boss, Ms. Stone. It was a miracle that the coffee didn’t spill all over her suit. Ms. Stone just looked at him with annoyance and disdain as she adjusted her spectacles.

“Is there something you needed from me, Mr. West?” Ms. Stone asked with a serious voice, with a hint of coldness. She looked down at him as she realized he was holding a hot cup of coffee.

“Just getting some coffee, you know how it is, trying to stay awake during a long day.” Lee tried joking some, but it was clear that she wasn’t having any of it. The way her eyes moved reminded him of a predator stalking her prey. She was just waiting for the right time to strike.

“Well, it looks like you’re in a hurry, get going,” she said as she made her way past Lee, taking a couple of steps before stopping and looking over her shoulder.

“Oh, and Mr. West, I’ll be needing you to stay back late this evening.”

“What do you need, Boss?” Lee asked, watching the older woman, as she looked back at him, Those stern auburn eyes, and blank expression as she showed little emotion rest on him as she gave him an impatient look. She was clearly busy and not having time for such lollygagging as she finally gave him a response.

“I need you to send out some rejection letters, from a few of the manuscripts you sent to me directly to check out. Also, send Alice Moore a letter letting her know if she doesn’t send me those chapters I’ve been bugging her for, we’ll drop her contract.”

“Wh-” Lee sputtered, looking to Stone with utter appal. “But Moore’s one of our biggest names! She’s been around since the company started!” Lee was shocked. However, it was clear; Ms. Stone didn’t care.

“I know that. I’m the one who chose to pick her up as a client, but she hasn’t sent me the latest chapter for the new book. I’ve warned her before when she was late, but this is her final chance. If she doesn’t send me something, anything, we’ll have to drop her.” She turned around, not giving Lee any time to offer a rebuttal as she headed towards her office. Lee sighed, turning off and responded mainly to himself.

“I’ll get to work then,” he turned off, popping his neck while walking away from Ms. Stone. Lee headed back up through the elevator, managing to drop off Beth’s coffee,

“Thanks, Lee. I hope it wasn’t too much?”

“Nah, It’s fine, just ran into Ms. Stone; she’s got me working a little bit late.”

“Damn, that sucks. I swear that woman needs to get out there, go on a date, get fucked; something besides being a pain in your ass.” Beth snickered as she took a drink of her coffee, practically moaning with how sweet it was against her taste buds.

“Yeah, but I wouldn’t make all that fine money. Besides I’m sure she’s more into women.”

“Nah, she doesn’t seem like the type. I imagine she’s all into that leather play.” Beth giggled as she went back to work.

“Maybe, but hey, as long as she doesn’t take that whip onto me, I’ll be fine.” Lee chuckled as he got back to work. He had a feeling it would be a long boring night for him. He continued typing away at his computer, beginning to pass off the letters. While taking a side glance over at the slosh pile and wondering.

*I swear it feels like we just reject these. I guess there has to be something worth while in here.*

Lee returned to work typing away, though, after a while, Lucy popped her head up, looking towards him with a smile on her face as if she had an idea. Lee could practically feel her eyes on him.

“Yes?” Lee asked as he quit typing on the computer.

“Lee, you’ve been single for what six-seven months?”

“It’s been a year,” Lee responded as he goes on to work as Beth looked towards him rather curious as Lee looked back up,

“What?”

“You need to get out more go on a date, I mean I could introduce you to Monica down in Mailroom. She seems your type,” Beth said as she watched him

“Really? Remember what happened last time you tried setting me up on a date with a coworker.”

“How was I suppose to know that was going to get you sent to the HR department.”

“She worked in HR!” Lee responded as he snorted more while Beth moved to give him the middle finger.

“Give me a break. I didn’t know she was married. She never wore a ring, and I think she’s fucking Jake from an accountant.” She leaned on the wall for a second,

“Well, good for them- but I honestly don’t think I’m in the mood for dating anyone.” There was a sigh as he looked back to his computer, working.

“True, but still, you could just give dating a try; you’re a great guy who any woman would love to be with- even if you’re a dork.” She snickered at that, and Lee returned the middle finger.

“Yeah- yeah yeah, well, I’ll think about it, ok. I’ve got too get back to work.”

That was around four days ago, and Lee had pulled himself up from the bed as he popped his neck. It was Saturday, and, in many ways, he had managed to get the weekend off; such a thing was rare, like every other day, it seemed like there was more work stacked on him, with working at Hornstone Publishing. He barely thought of much sitting in his small two-bedroom apartment.

He’d been staying there for a year, six months on his own after his roommate left and went to do his own thing. There was a miracle that he was able to make it through on his own. Jason was moving out a couple of months ago once he got engaged. The two had barely talked to Lee since. leaving him here to do his own thing.

“Well, let’s grab some breakfast.” He turned, walking towards the comically little kitchen. That was when he heard the ringing of the doorbell.

“What the?” he hadn’t been expecting anyone. He imagined there would be more of a quiet weekend, maybe check up on his parents. But he just believed going off sitting down and watching Netflix. But the doorbell rang a second time, and he just called out.

“I’m on my way, hold on.” He jogged towards the living room and pulled the front door open. No one was out there, not a single life, as Lee poked his head out the window and looked around. He turned his head, looking in every different direction. No one was around; with a faint sigh, he was about to close the door when he looked down. It was for half a second when he looked down there, and he noticed a simple brown box hanging there.

“Weird, I wasn’t expecting anything.” Lee reached down, grabbing the box, and pulled it inside. For all he knew, it might’ve been left on his doorstep by accident. He looked around it and eventually found an address.

“Well, it’s got my place name on it. So, someone sent it to me.” He didn’t find a return address, which was strange. But he pushed it off as some mistake as he moved over, making some toast, and pouring himself a glass of orange juice. Sitting at the table, he looked over the box and just began opening it up and ripping the top off. Took a second, but he finally managed to get it undone.

What fell out was nothing but a smaller box. More specifically, a ring box, light Blue, with a soft feel over it. As he opened it up. There he saw he was the ring from the Auction site.

“Huh, I won. Well, there goes twenty bucks.” He shrugged it off and pulled the ring out. The ring felt cool against his finger. It had felt like real gold. The symbols etched in them. There were more engraved into it. Though the symbols were something, he didn’t recognize them. He simply smiled some and decided to place it on his ring finger. The ring fit him perfectly. Almost as if it was made for him specifically.

“That’s weird…” Lee mumbled while looking over. It felt comfortable, maybe slightly snug. But it was just right for him. That was when he looked back towards the brown box and discovered something—a piece of paper, clearly old and yellow out. There were small burns around the sides and in the center, taking away some of the words.

*A warning towards those who hold this ring, what contains in this ring. Is a creature older than most who would ever understand, discovered in a small Italian town, exorcised and locked away in the ring?*

*If one needed to summon this creature, this Succubus, one must be careful, for the Succubus is not to be released as they could ravage and remove your very soul. The poor soul before had lived a life of misery as they were forced to deal with its lustful desire, and far from the light of God himself.*

*I fear that those who do this will be bound before the creature until the end of their life. Though with luck, it might protect others for as long as the owner of the ring possesses it, and they shall remain bound towards the Succubus till the day either they or the creature is killed.*

*If one were in need to summon this Demon, one must simply place the ring upon their finger, and soon the creature will roam through your mind creating the image of what you would consider a perfect partner and bring forth your desire. Drop a small bit of blood on the top of the ring and say forth this phrase Speaking to it like a lover*

*O a fornicationis daemone*

*ego liberabo te de tuo carcerem,*

*Venite Circulum curabit nosmet.*

*invenire spes nostra,* Share libidine nostra,

Ut nos quidem sunt idem.

*Non ei placebit Deo nostro desiderio.*

Lee looked over it for a second and read it over, with a slight laugh as he looked onwards and shook his head.

“This has to be a joke. I mean, it’s a good one real believable.” He laughed, taking the ring off, putting it on the table. He was close to walking away. Maybe he’d take a stroll around the neighborhood. But as he was close to walking off. He looked towards the room. He looked towards the ring and just felt something call him. It was hard to describe for Lee, but as he looked over it. He felt a need to try it out.

*Why not give it a try? It’s not like it’ll hurt anyone.* A small voice called to him in the back of his head as he looked around. The sound wasn’t his own; it was more feminine, the sweet seduction as it seemed to tempt him. Maybe Lee should’ve ignored the Voice. Walk away and never look back. But as he walked off. It just seemed to push him on more.

“Fuck it.” He jogged over towards the room, grabbing the ring and slipping it back onto him. The coolness of it remained. He walked over towards the kitchen and grabbed a knife. The small one he used to cut potatoes. He reached over, taking the tip jamming it against his thumb, pushing it down till eventually, blood slipped out. He hissed over the pain. Watching the Crimson liquid pass down, he dripped it down on the gold band. He watched as the gold colors vanished, turning utterly red as he smeared it over.

Without hesitating, he ran back over, looking towards the paper. It shocked him as he saw they were in English. He wanted to say something but imagined maybe he imagined the whole thing. And he was soon pushed on reading what they said, whispering to it gently. Those sweet, sweet words Talking to the ring like it was his lover, or at least he pretended to. He was saying in a calm, soothing voice. His eyes closed as he said those words.

“Oh, Demon of lust,

I free you from your prison,

Let this ring bind us.

Find our hopes and share this fire

As we are indeed the same.

He pushed his Voice into it as he tried to give passion and excitement. In some ways, he didn’t believe what he was saying as he opened his eyes. He was expecting nothing. And soon looked around him. What he saw… Was complete nothingness—pure Silence as he looked around towards the empty room.

“Yeah, I figured as much. Well, I better head off.” He reached over, planning to take the ring off When he reached around, grabbing it. He suddenly jerked back. The thing was hot. It burned his fingers as he touched it. Yet he felt nothing on the finger; it wrapped around.

“The fuck!” He muttered, imagining he was going crazy as he reached down, trying to pull it off but hissed in pain. The thing started shimmering a red tint. His heart pounded as he started getting scared. When suddenly, he heard the husk- lustful moaning coming from inside his head. The sure noise was calling out as it whispered.

“You’ve released me, and as those words state, I shall be bound to you for eternity. We are one, I am you, and you are me.”

“Gahh!” Lee screamed as he grabbed his head; it felt like his skull was about to split, pushing everything around as the room started spinning. His body felt as though it was on fire. As he moved over walking to the couch, he grabbed down onto it as he took deep breaths.

“Help me! Someone Help!” he called out. Lee was afraid. Whatever he did. Whatever was going on was not good as he fell down to his knees. The ring was glowing brighter. His fingers were burning. It was as if he was in the fires of Hell. He tried holding on till finally. He was no more, falling over, Lee passed out on the edge of his couch.

Silence overwhelmed the room as Lee would lay there. He was slowly beginning to envision a woman, a woman beyond words. With such passion. A woman who could be mistaken for as an angel.
