Is it a bad idea to post a story on any of the erotica subreddits, if it’s a story I intend to publish?

I wish I could say that I asked this question before posting. But I didn’t think about it until after the fact. Specifically, I posted a rough draft of a story I want to publish. There will be a lot of changes and additions. I have been getting a lot of upvotes, which is positive. But then I wondered if I should have posted the story after I published it

  1. Well, I wouldn’t want to post the story in its entirety if you want to publish it. The other thing is KU (Kindle Unlimited) requires exclusivity, so they won’t accept a story that’s been published elsewhere, even if it was for free. Also, check out r/eroticauthors if you haven’t already! Very helpful sub!

  2. Great question! But I wish I had seen your post 15 minutes ago! I just posted an excerpt from an erotic romance I published on Amazon (with a link). Ack. Did I screw up?

Thank you – and I’ll be sure to check out your post. Let me know if you ever need help with beta reading/editing. I love to support other writers.
