[MF] The Doorman

Prompt: A doorman and a nocturnal companion have an encounter.

The doors open in a luxury condominium in the busy, anonymous downtown of a large city. It’s the sort of space where plenty of people are anonymous and invisible. “Welcome home, Ms. Valentine. Are you in for the night?” the doorman asked. Amy Valentine hated his jacket. It was too bulky and square. She had seen him with just the white dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up and tight on his forearms, and preferred it much more.

“That’s right, Joe. All done for tonight.” Her lips made a perfect red bow. She found herself checking her make-up before stepping out of the cab to see her doorman, her protector.

Amy walked across the tiled floor. Her heels clicked with each step. She leaned over the marble desk to speak to him. “How has your night been? I hope you haven’t been too lonely while I’ve been away.” Amy worked from home. Up in her stylish condo she earned a generous living entertaining people. Her work had her up late and she would come down in the depths of the night when no one else was around during his shift and take deliveries, or go out, or merely get away after finishing up. She would find Joe always standing there, waiting. He was a comfort and an enticement for her to travel down from her unit.

His lip quirked into a little smirk, “Quiet. Boring. Until now.” He was always so… professional. She hated it. She loved it. Men threw money at her just so she’d smile and whisper their names. Not Joe. “Do you need any help with anything?”

“Yes. My bag. Can you… sorry, it’s just heavy,” she pouted slightly as she lied.

Joe nodded, “Right away, Ms. Valentine.” He came around the desk and took her luggage, wheeling it to the elevator. As he got beside her he smelled his cologne. He moved at a measured pace as though he controlled every action of his body. He pressed the button. Amy noticed he had a scar on his chin, interrupting his facial hair with a dull line. Just as she was wondering how he got it she saw him looking back.

She blushed. A woman who broadcast herself on the internet blushing as checking out a man. It was embarrassing for her to say the least. “Did you have a nice trip?” he asked. “I missed having you around.”

Amy brushed back her wavy locks, preening, “Yes. Didn’t you see? I thought you had me on Instagram,” she was flirting. She stepped closer to him. She always wondered if he watched her, if he lusted for her. Her followers had loved her photos on the beach, or the bar in a tight dress.

“That wouldn’t be appropriate, Ms. Valentine,” Joe said, serious in tone, but playful in his eyes.

“Too bad,” Amy replied. “There are some *good* photos in there.” The chime dinged and the doors parted. Amy went first. She shivered feeling his eyes on her. He followed in behind. When Amy turned around he was a hand’s breadth away from her, looking down into her eyes.

The doorman pressed her into the wall and kissed her hard. She whimpered like an untouched virgin. He was all around her and that was precisely what she had been dreaming of. Her hands gripped that hated jacket, but it didn’t budge off of his frame.

Her mouth opened and welcomed him. His tongue met hers and she thought her heart would burst. She clawed at him as she wished she were pulling him into her bed and getting what she deserved.

The door chimed again and slid apart. He stood aside and Amy giggled. She hurried out only to see the stoic doorman staying put inside the car.

“I’m off at dawn. You be a good girl and stay up for me. If you do I’ll come give you what you’ve been waiting for,” he said.

The doors began to close, her mouth open and her body on fire. She wanted to say something, to object. “Yes…” was all Amy could manage.

“See you then, Ms. Valentine.” The doors closed.
