[Question] Is it legal to read erotica involving minors?

I have stumbled upon The Young Girl Erotic Repository when I was searching for “teen erotica” on Google. I clicked in it and saw dozens of stories, the latest being written in 2003. After reading a few stories I concluded this site was dedicated to child/teen erotica, which I must say, were well-written. I do not want a letter or the police showing up on my door saying I have violated laws regarding pedophilia, so I have turned to you guys.

PS. I have not gone back to that site since. Just for my safety.

  1. In America, child pornography only refers to visual depictions, so erotica isn’t subject to child pornography laws. If the erotica isn’t obscene, it’s protected by the constitution. Erotica is obscene if “A reasonable person finds that the matter, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”

Simply possessing obscene speech is also protected by the constitution. Reading it online however counts as “receiving”, which is illegal.

Basically if the erotica lacks artistic value then it’s illegal to read over the internet. In short, our laws are stupid as hell and almost unenforceable so just stop being a pussy and read the goddamned porn. Law enforcement doesn’t care about people like you.
